THE PILLARS of ISLAM and FAITH
The pillars of Islam contains five things :-
عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: سَمِعْت رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و سلم يَقُولُ: " بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ: شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ، وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ".
“Islam has been built upon five pillars on testifying that there is no
god except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger; on
performing prayer; on giving alms ; on performing the pilgrimage;
and on fasting during the month of Ramadhan.”
1. Profession of Faith (Syahadah )
The belief that " There is no god but God and Prophet Muhammad is the Messenger of God" is central to Islam
2.Performing Prayer 5 times in a day
Muslim performing pray facing Mecca at Subh (dawn ) , Zohr (noon) , Asr ( mid-afternoon) , Maghrib ( sunset) and Isya' (after dark).People who refuses to performing the prayer will be severely punished in the hereafter
3.Issuing Alms (zakah)
According to Islamic code laws , Muslim must pay a zakah because it is an obligation . Zakah has two types which are zakah fitr and zakah wealth
4.Pilgrimage (performing hajj)
This pillar not an obligation to a Muslim . Performing Hajj for who afford to do it. It is because Hajj requires us a lot of cost.
5.Performing fasting in a month of Ramadhan
Throughout the moth of Ramadhan , all the healthy adult Muslims are required to abstain from food and drink and also lust. There are three stages among people who are fasting .Firstly is general fasting .Secondly is special fasting .Thirldly is special fasting al-khusus.
The pillars of Faith (Iman) contains six things :-
1.Belief in the existence and unicity of Allah
Surah Al-Ikhlas which with beautiful rhyme is the strong evidence about almighty and oneness God.
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ، اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ ، لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ”“Say, He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”
2.Belief in the existence of Angels
The angels were created from light and were created before humans for the purpose of worshipping Allah. The characters of angels are they do no sleep , eat or suffer from illness. There 10 of them.
The Archangel (Gabriel) AS , The Angel of Soor [the trumpet](Israfel)AS , The Angel of Death (Azrael)AS , The Angel that controls the events in this realm(Michael)AS , The Angels who ask us questions in grave (Munkar and Nakir) AS, The Angel who guards the gates of Hell (Malik)AS , The Angel who guards the gates of Heaven (Ridhwan)AS , The Angel who records man's good deeds (Raqib)AS , The Angels who records man's bad deeds (A'tid)AS.
3.Belief in the books of Allah
There are four books revealed by Allah which are Zabur , Taurat , Injil and Al-Quran .These books have revealed to the Prophet of Allah .These books belonging to Prophet David AS , Prophet Moses AS , Prophet Jesus AS and Prophet Muhammad SAW respectively
4.Belief in Allah's Messengers and that Prophet Muhammad is the last of them
Most of the messengers of Allah were sent to a specific nation except for our Prophet Muhammad SAW. He was sent to guide all of mankind and Islamic religion is comprehensive. It is clearly state in Surah An-Nahl , And We certainly sent inti every nation a messenger,[saying],"Worship Allah and avoid Taghut ." And among them were those whom Allah guided , and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.
5.Belief of the Day of Judgement
This is the big events ever in this world. As we know , this world is temporary and the hereafter is eternal. Allah has set certain period for the whole universe , whose end will be the final hour . At this time , man will be questioned about their deeds in this world and those deed will be weighed at plains of resurrection. Those people who good deeds overweigh his evil deeds will prosper but if bad deeds overweigh the good , he will be condemned to hellfire.
6.Belief in the Qadhaa' and Qadar ( Doom & divine Decree)
The doom is the general decree of Allah that every human shall die whereas the divine decree is a particular decree of Allah or the execution of doom. In addition, The belief in Divine Predestination includes belief in four things ; Allah is well acquainted with everything taking place , Allah has pre-assigned portions of everything , Nothing takes place in the heaven or on the earth without the will of Allah and the last ones is Allah is the creator of all things.
